About Radiation Oncology Associates, Ltd.

ROA was incorporated in 1977 as a private practice, professional Service Corporation
for providing radiation oncology services. ROA founders Dr. Alan Fidler and Dr. Marcia
Richards have since retired but under their leadership ROA grew to the current twelve
radiation oncologists who provide services to ten Wisconsin cancer centers. ROA physicians
collectively consult over three thousand three hundred Wisconsin residents annually and supervise
the delivery of several thousands of radiation procedures yearly.

Radiation oncology is a small specialty that is evolving in the rapidly changing medical
and high technology environment. We believe that our unique and cohesive larger group
structure allows us to provide greater service to our respective cancer centers and
patients. This group strategy has allowed ROA to:
|
- write and update clinical practice guidelines for several clinical treatment sites
- collectively attend several national and international medical meetings each year, and
distribute this medical information efficiently among our members
- perform outcome studies for various clinical sites, including breast cancer,
prostate cancer and sarcomas
- develop, report, and internally critique quality assurance programs in our oncology centers
- create and implement a Mission Statement that describes our goal to provide
high quality radiation oncology care in our cancer centers
- clinically direct, didactically teach, and support Wisconsin's only Bachelor of
Science Radiation Therapy Training Program -- thereby providing competently
trained, certified therapists that are fundamentally essential for providing
service in our cancer centers
- encourage additional physician subspecialty training, and disease-specific
interest or expertise in prostate seed implants, intraoperative radiation therapy,
Gamma Knife and LINAC Radiosurgery, 3D conformal radiation, high and low dose
rate brachytherapy, and other specialized treatment modalities
- participate in clinical trial studies including the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group

ROA physicians have adhered to democratic governance and have created a vision of
excellence by optimally assimilating the talents of our member physicians.
ROA encourages professional growth among its members and requires an extensive
formal internal and external performance evaluation and goals review for each ROA
physician on at least a yearly basis.
